Need some serious help
« on: October 28, 2015, 10:10:48 AM »
Ok all I am having a serious issue and it is going to affect weather I can even move forward with my display this year.

I am getting all ts of issues with any model that I have that is above universe 22.
When I go to the test tab and select all channels for a test and the do a mixed color I get studdering on all models above universe 22...  if I change the model that isn't working and define the channel groups below universe 22 everything works fine. If I take a model that works and change the channels to a universe above 22... I stops working....

Can you have more then 22 universes over multi cast?? IS this part of the issue to where I have too much data?? IF so wouldn't I see this on any string of lights regardless of how it is defined??

Can one of you call me I can explain it better but this problem has me to the point to where I don't want to put anything else up.

After you will have to share more information.
What controller are you using, also can you post your files, this would help to find the problem, I am not saying I can find the problem, but the guys the really know this will probably ask for it. :-)

3 pixlite 16's are what I am using...

There are no files to post because just setting up the network tab with 64 universes on a clean install withot defining models it still does it.

Do you run your show on an isolated network?  Describe your network setup.  Is any part of this using wireless?  There should be no reason you can't run more than 22 universes but there can be a ton of things to cause you to have network issues.

The short version of multicast:

Multicast sends the data to every ip address on your network. That means your network router/switch must send the data to every port that has a device connected.  This puts an unnecessary load on the CPU in your router and probably causes lag.

My suggestion is to use Unicast.  Since you have only 3 controllers, it should be simple to switch to Unicast.

If you have a way to monitor the CPU on your router, you'll see what I mean. If not, change to Unicast anyhow and enjoy flicker free sequences.
