Model Proportion aspect ratio with shift key
« on: November 05, 2015, 11:21:25 AM »
Would it be easy enough to keep aspect ratio with shift key held down while dragging the corner to resize it?  Also to have snap lines.  Horz and Vert.  If you was trying to line up models and it would be nice to have a line across the whole house model that would only show during the whole model layout setup.  You would grab from the top or side and drag to where you would need it.  like in Adobe Photoshop.

Thanks,
Dan

Easy enough to do if I understand what you are suggesting.  Just create a new model single string of any kind of lights and drag it where you want it during your setup.  When done go back to model properties and click off the "part of my display"  or assign it channels that you leave as spares and nothing will show up when you play back a sequence in layout mode.

Gil.  I understand where your coming from.  I've been using xLights since version 3 and Photoshop since version 3.  The request that I'm asking for is from the following.  I've had alot of my element models setup as customs as groups.  I'm in the process to breaking them apart into their each model.  I have major OCD and I like straight lines and circles.   :o  The aspect ratio would be really handy when sizing the circles.

I've been signed up on the forum for a long time.  I read and read just never post.   :)

Thanks,
Dan

Jim,
Never though about just using a dummy single line string as a snap line.  I can try that out.

Sorry Gil,

I never gave it a thought of introducing myself on here..  I'm on so many forums over the years using the same profile name (last name) that it's not me bosting about my display and stuff.  By trade, I'm a network engineer working in education for the past 9 years.  Prior to that, I've worked for a local ISP since 1997.

I'm a hardware guy that enjoys building anything electronics and have been running a display for 8 years.  Started with Vixen 2.1 for a few years, then to LSP, and Nutcracker web base. Ver 2 i guess up to XLights 4.  Using all e1.31 and DMX.  Lynx Expresses, AUS Tiger 120's, J1Sys, Rasp Pi and BBB P10's, F4-B and F16's

Nutcracker has evolved into a great piece of software in the years and I can't imagine using anything else.  It's makes sequencing a snap.

I'm guilty of the same thing.  I appreciate all of the work that you guys put into xlights as much as I can.  I say as much as I can because it's not possible for me to comprehend all that you do for us as a community.

With that being said, please understand that people don't intend to offend and they're definitely not taking your workmanship for granted.  I think we all are just excited and eager to use this wonderful software.  I too have been using since version 3 and mainly hang out over on the DIYC site.
