Nutcracker removing tracks from S3
« on: June 07, 2014, 03:42:58 PM »
Is there a way to NOT have Nutcracker remove the tracks from a S3 file?  I could be wrong, correct me please if I am, but it looks like when you export the file...it rearranges it into the sequential channel order? I had 9 tracks and it moved everything.

I would like to be able to do an effect in Nutcracker, export it over  LOR, work some in LOR on the pixel tree (possibly doing some "old school" mega tree stuff), go back and grab more effects, etc.

Just learning this software. Watched the Jan 9th video which really helped. Looks like I will eventually have to run the show in xLights though ;-)

I should add it is realigning my channels into Controller 1 Ch.1, 2,3,4... and throwing some of the new Nutcracker channels in there as well.

Yes, this is normal behavior ... You will lose all your LOR S3 tracks, groups ... And get a sequential channel order.   You would need a new config file in sequential order to use it.   It's pretty useful in determining what went in xlights and how overlays between s3 and xlights worked out.  So wouldn't expect to go back into S3 and use it.    The way to modify an lor s3 file you imported into xlights is to edit the original lms file and then re Import it and it rebuilds the xlights xseq file but keeps the previously added nc effects ... So while this capability isn't often discussed it works great.   Sean explained how it works in great detail.

I'm still in the process of looking through his videos. Was that in the Jan 9th tutorial? That sounds interesting.
Sean explained a different way which will work, if I can figure out how to get LOR to automatically assign channels....really don't want to do that one at a time ;-)...

Think Sean was like me..and not sleeping since he answered this at 2:30am :-)
" export the file as a lcb (LOR Clipboard) and then paste it on your timeline. If you export as a lms file, it will bring that in on top of anything you already have loaded.

most all people who use LOR and Nutcracker use the lcb export option.

Also if you are working on just one element from Nutcracker do not do an Export do an Export Model.

This will make a smaller file.

summary

do

1) Export if you have multiple models
2) use Export Model if you are doing just one model

and

export data as a clipboard *.lcb file

sean "

That is actually what I was looking for. I'm real picky on most of sequences and want them musically to make sense with the whole display. So his new preview thing will really help me out and my OCD tendencies with sequences ;-)
