Models in Review
« on: November 07, 2015, 07:12:57 AM »
I have converted several songs to FSEQ and they play fine. Today I converted one and the models are all mixed up. The correct ones are not coming on and some that have no cells highlighted are playing. Is there an explanation for this pleased. Posted in FPP also
Thanks

Really strange I converted the same sequence to xseq then back to vix. Then converted to fseq and it played fine. I guess if it works go with it.

Only one sequence  converted right. Since my last post I am still seeing all the models scrambled in the preview. Not sure the problem but would sure like some guidance here. Time is running short.
Thanks

For anyone to really help you will need to send your files. Do you know which ones to post?

In your show directory look for the rgbeffects xml file and the network xml file. That's a minimum, you may want to include the sequence xml file also.

I'm not in front of my computer, so not sure 100% on file names.

When I look at this post there are so many things left out.  What were you converting from?  When you say "they play fine" is that playing in xLights Layout tab, xLights Preview tab, xLights Scheduler tab to hardware, on the FPP?  If you convert to FSEQ you don't have any "cells" so you must be opening up the FSEQ in xLights which is creating an associated XML file.  We can't read minds you gotta lay out more of your process.

I will try to fill in the questions. I am converting from vixen 2.1. I am playing back in the layout tab. Two play just like the vixen sequences and the res t are a mess. I see no xlights preview tab unless that is something in the scheduler which I have not got to yet. I have no play list yet. I am just trying to get the sequences converted so I can proceed with setting up my PI. Show is about put together so I can play lights. Maybe I am ahead of myself. I have never used xlights or FPP  for a show. I have gotten as far as testing a few channel on my pi and playing a video. I guess I will continue set up of the show and then try my converted sequences to see if they work t time is getting close to show time.
Thanks

Here are two of the files. I do not see a sequence xml file. I am not using  regular pixels just regular led light strings and dumb Pixels.

The sequence is named specific to you, so jingle bells, carol of the bells, etc.

Yeah sorry there is no Preview tab what I really mean for that is when you play a sequence in the Sequencer tab you view the Model Preview and House Preview windows when it plays back.

But it sounds like you are only using xLights to convert to FSEQ format.  You won't have an xLights XML sequence in that case unless you try to open the FSEQ file other than from the Layout tab playback.  For what you want to do you should need an xLights XML file.  That would only be necessary to add xLights effects to your data.

If two file convert correctly then the xLights models must be setup correctly unless your third Vixen sequence doesn't have the same channel setups.  If I remember right Vixen 2.1 file specify a Vixen project file that is used to define the mapping.  Do all 3 files specify the same project file?  You can open up the Vixen file in Notepad++ and find where it calls out the .pro file.

There is not project file that I see in vixen 2.1 that I see.  All my sequences are the same channels setu from my profile. I will just have to see what happens when I try the lights. I may have to just make a profile with just a few channels and connect to a controller and see if it works. When it comes to understanding all theseiles and computer talk I have know clue what is going on.
Thanks

So maybe what I'm remembering is a "profile" file instead of a project file.  The both begin with "pro" and I think that was file extension.

I am clearly puzzled. I switched to one of my other six computers and tried converting the sequences on it and they all run fine. I think maybe there are some files corrupt on this one so I will just use the other computer to get my fseq files done. Nest season I will worry about this computer. I ha my vixen files on a couple flash drives external hard drive and a few computers so I should have enough back up for the time being.

So much for that thought. Two sequences were fine the n the rest of them are still not firing on the right channels in the conversion. Time to throw in the towel for this year again. With out these sequences converted to fseq I can not run  my show.
