Failed to load image from file
« on: November 08, 2015, 01:43:24 PM »
This just started. I have been using the same image for a couple of thousand times in the pass 4 months. It is a .jpg and I can open that image just fine with a double click.

After I get this message the sequence will work I just can't control the image brightness on the layout tap, there is no image.

any thoughts

Brad

My first thought is that somehow you changed folder location.  i.e. you change your default folder and the image is not where you originally accessed it.  just because you copied the image file to the new folder the program will not find it as the location is hard coded in the file and the program always looks for the original location.  I have had to go into the xml with notepad++ to see where the program is looking for the file and sure enough that is not where the file is anymore.  That often happens when switching computerd or renaming a folder or making a new folder, ie., I have been using xl4test and now I am using Christmas 2015.  Even though I copied the image, the sequence still looks for the image in xl4test.

Is there a limit to the size of the data file that we can import?

xlights is a 32bit app, so there is prob some limit to huge imported files. The MAC version of xlights is 64bits , if you have huge files maybe find a friend who has a MAC.

I come no where near running out of memory in my shows. I dont import data from other sequencers so that helps

You can import as a data layer - much more efficient , though you cant edit that directky

Or you can just edit some components of the sequence (that u want to change) as effects and the entire seq as a data layer. Then anything you edit  will overwrite the data layer when you render (as per the default sequence which can be changed)
