Indiana’s largest outdoor choreographed Christmas musical!
Now in its 9th year, Pleasant Grove Farm promises a spectacular performance. Owner John Cline states; “We’ve added 2 new trees and another stage. This should be our best show yet. Our first show starts Sunday, December the 6th at 6PM and runs until 11PM. There are over 2 hours of choreographed Christmas music. The last Christmas Show is the 26th. Our Patriotic show is about 45 minutes of music and runs from 6PM-11PM December 27th through January 1st.“
Cline says that last year there were 15,800 controllable channels of lights. This year peaks at 19,800 individually controllable lights. “Quite spectacular, I hope”.
Mr. Cline has been working full time on the construction of the props since July. Programming is a year round project. The town square’s mega tree has 9600 led RGB (Red-Green-Blue) lights. Each light is controllable and can be any of 2 million colors! On the Lake is a second smaller tree with 2400 led RGB lights and 4 arches. A new 2400 RGB tree and a smaller 600 RGB have been added this year.
“We’ve added more props and moved some things around this year. There are eleven “stages” or groups of props (lights) that start at the front gate and spread a quarter mile over 13 acres. There are about 5 miles of heavy duty extension cords and about the same of smaller cords. I have 6 helpers and we started assembling this after our last mowing in October. We hope to finish all by Thanksgiving so that we can test and tweak the displays. We are not doing the inflatables this like the 16’ Santa. The wind and winters have taken their toll and it is beyond repair.”
Cline a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, Vietnam combat pilot and commercial pilot says his favorite show is the Patriotic. “I have to listen to these songs many, many times and I get tired of some but never the patriotic music. John Phillips Sousa is my favorite.”
Located 4 miles south of Linton on CR 300 S it is hard to miss. You can see it from the turn off on HWY 59 onto CR 200 S. That’s at the first big curve in the Goose Pond. Tune your radio to FM 99.3 when you get close to the lights to hear the music. They have over 3000 cars a year come to the show and the average stay is over an hour. There are 4 parking lots available. It can get very crowded so he asks all to be patient. He asks that you stay in your vehicles as there are electrical hazards everywhere. Also try to stay on the road.
