importing vixen file
« on: November 18, 2015, 09:29:22 PM »
Hi, I am trying to import a vixen file. I set my model up in xlights, go to new sequence, animation, import, vixen, select the file, done. I then edit the display elements add for the sequence in the timing grid, I go to the settings and change the sequence to 3 minutes, but only get 30 seconds of the vixen sequence showing up in the preview. What did I miss? the default sequence time seems to be 30 seconds but you cant change that till after you create the sequence as far as I can see.

Well you can always create the sequence first to get the length you want and the open the Sequence Settings dialog back up and goto the Data Layers tab to Import the file.  I never actually do import from the new sequence wizard.  If you change the length after creating a sequence you need to save, close, and reopen the sequence and possibly delete the FSEQ file if you created one.  That should fix it to the new size.  We need to fix that to happen automatically next year.

Hi
Ok I tried all you suggested. The swquence is now 3 mins but the import still only lasts 30 seconds. Any other suggestions please?
Thanks

Yeah just create a media sequence and select In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida for the song and you should have 17 minutes to play with.

Ok, I figured it out, the vixen seq was only recorded at 100ms, 10FS, I was creating the new sequence at 40FS, 25ms in Xlights.which is what I want the new sequence to be., therefore the vixen seq was playing way faster than it was meant to be. so if I record the new sequence as 10FS timing and import vixen is there any way to then change it to 25FS afterwards?
Thanjks

Yes but its a manual method for now.  Close everything down then manually edit the XML file to change the sequence timing value and then delete the FSEQ file.  When you open back up the sequence should convert to the new timing steps.  I'm not 100% sure there's not a problem with doing this using an imported data layer.  It would definitely work with effects that were imported using the Import Effects method.
