Squencing help
« on: November 23, 2015, 05:15:09 PM »
I am dragging the effect icons to my elements in the sequencing tab but the effects are not being applied. Do I have to turn any option on in order to add effects to my existing sequence. Thanks

Drop a white On effect and see what happens in the model preview.

Done that , there is no effect on the model. I am picking the effects and dropping them but they are not being applied.

Are you "picking" an effect and then clicking where you want it in the model?  Try dragging the effect to where you want it.

What is the model ? And the effect ?

Also check which timing grids (eg beats/ bars etc) you have selected . Try selecting or deselecting.. one.

Model is a matrix of 30 rows and 25 columns and I tried picking different effects and dropping into into the cell where I want the effect to start. Once i release the mouse button the effect goes back without affecting any change.

You probably have a timing track active.  You can't drop effects just anywhere unless you uncheck the timing track.  When the track is active you gotta place timing marks and drop between the marks.  Have you watched any of the videos?

Thanks Gilrock, I deleted the timing track and now I am able to select the cells and drag and drop in an effect. But irrespective of what effects I drop, all the lights light up white color.

Maybe a little screencast-o-matic posted up to vimeo to show what you are doing will help us? If your effects are showing up all white, did you create the model in layout mode as a RGB model or a custom model?

Thanks Dr for trying to help. Models are created as rgb models.

You gotta pick the colors in the color palette using the checkboxes.  Screenshots help us know what your trying to do.

I have a LOR file which has got LOR data and has models imported from Nutcracker last year.

I convert the files to xseq in NC and they play fine in the layout Tab. No problems so far

I go to sequencer and I add a NC effect and then save.

This changes my file completely. Now I am not able to see any of the earlier sequences converted from lms. I only see the effect added in the Nutcracker sequencer.

What happened to all my sequences. What am I doing wrong. Thank you much

For the earlier question--I am pretty sure you have to have a beginning & ending timing mark so you have a "place" for your effects.  I have tried to drop effects before and didn't have a "range" so to speak--didn't work until I had two marks.   Some of the smart guys can weigh-in on that....

if you have a timing track enabled then you must have a start and ending timing amrk.

If no timing tracks are enabled then we drop your effect with a 1 second duration.

some people just want to drop effects and then tweak timing marks. In this case, no timing track is needed.

Thank you Sean and Danj,

I am pretty sure timing is the issue. I was assuming that I can just drop in an effect and it will inherit the timing of the original file. Let me keep experimenting but thanks for pointing me to the right direction.

Should I then insert a timing at the start of the sequence and another one at the end of the sequence as default.
