lost data
« on: November 28, 2015, 10:43:02 AM »
I have 2 mega trees and 4 arches. Started running them 5 days ago. Looks great until it rained last night. the small mega tree and arches were fine. the big one, wow, frozen lights, flickering the whole realm. Here is the difference between the trees, big one 8 feeds with 25' of 18 gauge wire, 1 plug in connector, 4 solder joints per cable, where the small tree is only 15' 2 feeds 2 solder joints. Running a E682 controller ws2811 strips lights at 12 v. this morning I ran all new data lines with no connectors or solder joints separate from power lines. At the moment running fine. Just wondering what going to happen with 2 feet of snow on these lines. Should I jump up to 16 gauge wire for the data.

I had re wired my big tree data lines keeping them separate from power except for the star on top. when the star should be dark, its flickering. that data line is still running in the group of power lines feeding the whole tree. I was 18-4 wire per feed with 9 feed all taped together. I'm thinking the power is corrupting the data and was worst when it rained. any one else with this happing? Thoughts?  Tree and star 2811 chips
