Video of opening sequence
« on: November 29, 2015, 01:36:24 AM »
Bad news: Still dont have my show ready. My 14yo boys cable tied 16 5m flex trips to emt today. Still need to make 16 cables for second megatree. Need to mount Falcon 16 v2 into box and connect power supplies. Need to finish mounting P10 matrix. Need to set 55 Smart String Controllers to their correct channel counts. Good news: my wife continues to sequence. Bad news, she is tallying all hours she spends and is charging me, her rate is $20 hour. Most songs were 2-6 hours. Good news, she has had some serious reservations about the 2500 hours i have spent on xlights/nutcracker over the last few years. Now that she is getting some revenue , the tension about Christmas is less.  Money well spent for harmony. Here is the song we will open our show with. I like the colors she choose. She spent so much time getting the running notes to work, way more than i would have done. Looks very nice! https://vimeo.com/147218745

Models are:
Left megatree. 20x120 4m 1809 flex
right megatree: 16x50 5m ws2811 flex
matrix over garage: P10 panel 32x128

I thought I was the only one that was behind. Good thing we use xLights though. My wife doesn't sequence but she does have plenty of input on how it will look. Leaving for Florida for a week tomorrow. Mega tree isn't finished yet either. Both kids in bed with us with fevers. Good times!!!

Your wife has some potential there Sean and $20.00 a hour seems really reasonable, she will also help you with your GUI as it just won't make sense to her in places and you will see firsthand why from a totally different perspective.

Definitely enjoyed some of her effects, but I believe when the show is live and she watches it back from outside she will find it a bit to much blinky and flash.  It's a trap we ALL fall into the first few years as I just don't think we see the visualizer like we can our real lights (obviously) for the flashy parts until we experience it and make the adjustments to more fades and leaving some items just as a background.

Not even sure will get a show up.  But I did get enough storm debris cleaned up to continue setting up the show and maybe with a sledgehammer I can get some rebar in the ground today and get my mini trees from Boscoyo up and perhaps get some snowflakes on the roof.  They may not do anything, but they might be there!

She does good work.  And $20 an hour for a well trained wife is cheep!  But don't tell her that part though.
