Help Getting OS X El Capitan up and running
« on: December 07, 2015, 01:49:57 PM »
Ok I am fairly new to running our cul-de-sacs light show. We previously ran the whole thing using a Windows 7 laptop running version 3.x of xlights. However that laptop will no longer be able to be used relatively soon. So I am trying to migrate from that to a Mac running el Capitan and version 4.2.24 of xlights.

We broadcast from the computer to a Lynx Etherdongle using multi cast and from there to a Lynx TX/RX wireless transmitter to a bunch of Lynx Expresses. On the Windows box everything runs flawlessly however on the Mac all I am able to get is music nothing is being broadcast to the etherdongle.

I shut off the wifi as I read that can cause problems (don't need it anyways), still no blinky blinky joy though via test mode or the sequences.

I am really at a loss as to what I am missing in getting this set up. So any help s greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I kept poking the bear and well do not if this is the right answer but it seems to have worked.

I added a static IP address for the ethernet port in my case 192.168.0.10
Then had to turn multicast on via the terminal using sudo route add -net 232.0.0.0/5 192.168.0.10

Like i said not sure if that is right but seems to have me up and running for now.
