damaged my show
« on: December 08, 2015, 03:43:07 PM »
I had to change my model numbering to make everything play nice. I have a mix of LOR LYNX and Falcon  using X-lights to sequence  and play the show. I thought  all it would take was a re render but the sequence is just a mis mash.  I attempted to re-import the LOR and it did not help is there a way to save the save and export an element?  I sequenced the tree, all the back ground  was imported from LOR.  I can re-import the LOR to a fresh sequence but I have hours of work on the tree and don't have any idea how to copy and paste it if its even possible...

I'd try deleting the FSEQ file and rerender.

I don't know if I did it right but I got the same mis mash play back when I deleted the FSEQ file. I created a new sequence and re imported my LOR sequence with the correct channel set up. I then attempted to Import in the mega tree xml file from my old completed sequence and I get a crash. I  am about ready to try anything short of human sacrifice to rescue this mess. I don't understand why the program cares about what channels I tell it to turn on  if it is  1 or 100 ?.

I can't really follow exactly what your doing.  But in any case if you want to copy effects from another sequence just open a second copy of xLights and do a copy paste operation between the two copies of the program.  Just don't make any changes that affect the rgbeffects file like model/view/perspective changes.

that is the problem I had to make channel numbering changes and I guess that changed the rgbeffect file

It doesn't matter...if you can open the old file then you can copy the effects from it's models.  You could open the old file, copy the effects to the clipboard, open the new file and then paste them.  The effects aren't tied to any particular channel ordering.

I cant copy and paste between two open x light  programs.  I have two screens both programs open.

I had to change my model numbering because of the AC controllers (they need to be first because they run in counts of 16 ) I did not know, or realize that when I set up my models several months ago.  In LOR changing controller numbering is not a big deal and I did not think about it.

This changed my RGBeffects files and none of my sequences are working now. I can re-import the LOR background stuff into the renumbered models and it runs fine. I need to get the mega tree and star I sequenced in to the "re numbered" X Lights.

I am just frustrated and way behind and need a push in the right direction. Thank you for trying to help Gilrock I am not trying to be stupid on purpose.

Exactly why can't you copy and paste between the two?  Also I told you that you can do it with only one instance of xLights.  You copy the effects, close the sequence, open the other sequence, paste the effects.  xLights doesn't give a darn about your channel number changes when it comes to copying effects.

It's just as easy to renumber in xLights.  I do it all the time.  I just can't figure out what you did wrong but it's something because many of us change our channels and rerender all the time.

not trying to be contrary, I just can't seem to get anything to work. I will take a fresh stab at it later.

I'm just not seeing enough details to help.  When you say you did a reimport of LOR are you importing a data layer?  If so then moving model numbers around isn't going to work because the imported data is hard-coded to the channel location where the data resided in LOR.  You would need to reorder the data in LOR first before you could do a data layer import with different channel numbers.

In the end I created a new sequence with my new model layout. I imported my LOR layer. Then I imported the .XML file from my old layout and brought my mega tree into the new sequence.  It worked, and with help from Dave Pitts ( he is the best ) my show is up and running.  I never was able to copy an entire model  or even to find it in the manual. But being in a rush and under pressure is never good for learning anything new.
