OK let's start at the beginning. Start a new sequenc .  Pick animation. Then pick your 50 frames per second. And in the next screen don't pick any of those.  At the top I think its the second tab marked info.  Chose that. At the bottom it let's you chose time. Put in 300 for 5 minutes. Then hit done.   If you try to change the time after that its not to easy.   It also does not seem to like over 1200. 20 minutes.

Anyone know why I can't put effects in past the 30 sec mark. I changed it to 60.000 before putting effects in and every time I get to 30 it stops playing. Trying to put together 5 minutes of changing effects and colors on my roof line that I can put on repeat tonight as I keep learning the SW.

If you already have an FSEQ file we use it to determine the song length so if you want to change the duration you need to delete that file and reopen/resave the sequence.

I thank many of us end up with pretty animations for a show at some point.  I've got a few of them now, never enough time.

However, you can always put some music behind it and not broadcast the music, gives you something maybe you can visualize the lights doing.

e.g the breeze in frozen has been interpreted a lot of ways by folks, or maybe you like Polka, if you don't broadcast it no one will know and you can do your animations to it to increase your satisfaction.

Butterfly always seems to be a favorite, Sean added plasma this year, simple marque on off on off chases are good.

This year I 'm not making it out with a show do to some other "technical" issues and have a lot of color washes with sparkle going on just to have some color.

Thank you everyone for all the advice. I have been playing around with all the animations and have been able to put some nice effects together.

Definitely going to be starting for next years Xmas soon.

Are there any good pre-sales going on for next year right now?

Pre-sales don't usually start till next year but most of the places that do pre-sales aren't the places I purchase from anymore.

For a roof line model what is the best way to put it into xLights. The way I have my lights set up is output 1 controls the top peak which is on 50 Node C9 Pixel string and then output 2 powers the bottom of the roof line starting from the right and consist of 3 string total one 50 nodes and the other two 25 nodes . So far what I have done is add each model with a straight line then grouped them together. Is this the right way to do this? Here is a picture of what I'm working with.

Yep you normally need to make a line for each segment.  For the gables you can make a dummy model that's a straight line that overlays the same channels, uncheck part of my display for that model, and then use that model when you want to sequence it with effects that work well on a line and use the group for area based effects.
