I am going to add a few more universes and completely change what I have done up to now. The numbering scheme will also change. I would like to be able to run my 2015 sequences when I need to look at what i did and then go right back to the new layout. Is this possible? I guess what I am asking is can xlights be installed as 2 completely separate programs, so I can open up both of them and have them side by side.

In my main xlights data folder I have many sub folders.  2014 Christmas, 2015 Christmas, 2015 Halloween, and now there is one for 2016 Christmas.  I just copy everything from 2015 to the 2016 folder and then start making changes.  You just go to setup and change folder.  That is also the way to look at sequences that are shared, make a folder and copy all the shared stuff to it.  If there is no xlights network shared, just make add 16 or 32 e1.31 universes.  It does not make any difference what you put in there as you are just going to look at it.  To use it you would import it into your own folder using the import function.

First I running windows 7, Im also running 2 monitors I load xlights and drag it over to my second monitor. Maximize it, then load another xlights on my first monitor.  I can not copy effects from one to another but I'm still able to see what I did before to reproduce it. it will come up with an error message if your using a dongle.  When sequencing its nice to have two monitors working on one and model view on the second. Just remember to pull your model back before closing if your going to share your sequences. easier on the person.

I had no idea you could do this. I have xlights running once in each monitor and different sequences.
This is very cool.

I can drag over the (F5) Update box into the other sequence but it has no effects attached to it.
Still very nice way to view an older sequence while creating a new one.
I like it
Thanks

I have Xlights set as an icon on my desktop. Dbl click it when it done loading you grab the top bar and drag it to the second screen.  Then just dbl click the icon again and Xlights will load a second time. If running a single screen you can tile each one next to each other.  Durning x mas I run two Xlights one running the show and the other I'm sequencing on.  Just need to make sure your light outputs are both not on at the same time.

You can't be sequencing on the same sequence that is running can U?

Many times I feel I am wasting time because I am not sequencing, because the computer is being used. I was  going to learn about the Rasp Pi just  because of that.

again very neat
