The seqencing effects are not acting right
« on: January 25, 2016, 11:00:13 PM »
Hoping to get a show going for 2016 and introducing a lot more pixels and let Xlights sequence the Pixels and LED strings and let xlights  run the show this go round.

I using the latest version of Xlights 4.0.02.

I have the models made and have placed them in the left hand column of the sequencer.

All the models in the house preview are white. I placed an effect for the first model and all the other models lite up just like the first model. I'm not understanding this. It acts like they are all tied together.
Each time I place an effect in the succeeding model, all the other models follow the same effect. Or when I place the curser on any model, the effect of that model causes all the other models to display the same effect.
I'll keep playing with it though. Maybe it will magically work out.

I assume the version number is a typo because 4.0.02 is not the latest.

If a model shows up white its usually because you clicking on the "Dimming Curves" button for the model and then didn't set any values.  We have an issue where they aren't defaulting correctly so if you go in there out of curiosity you need to set the default values to "0" brightness and "1.0" for gamma.

If models appear to follow each other then that means you probably left them all on the default start channel of 1.  Channel overlaps are perfectly valid in some situations but if you don't want that you need to type in the actual start channels for each model.

Sorry Gil. I guess my eyes were crossed when I looked at the version. The version is 4.3.02

I did leave the default start channel on 1.  and also from output channel.   I didn't know what to do there.

I'm not sure what to put in "start channel" and "from output channel" when adding a model.

You normally number them based on how you plan to arrange controllers in your display.  If you don't know then just create a big block of channels and start each model where the last one ended.  If model 1 ends at 300 then start model 2 at 301.

One of the beauties of xlights is that you can go back and change all your channel assignments. open the xml, and resave the file and the channels will be changed in your output (fseq) file.  It would be best to delete the fseq before you do that.

Thanks, it is much better now.  At this time I do not know where I am going to place the controllers.
I wanted to see if I could learn how to use this software first.
