Testing tab and unable to change order or color
« on: January 27, 2016, 06:20:08 PM »
Hello,

I hooked up a string or 12v 100 count 2811 pixels from pixelsequencing but Im having a problem. When I run the RGB test, my light order is blue green red. I went into my model layout and switched them to BGR, and my color order stayed the same. I tried switching my color order to each available in model layout with no change in the order when I test. I had a string yesterday from Holidaycoro and once I switched the order in the layout it was fine. Running Falcon 16 Port Hub with USC. I tried running a sequence thru FPP and color order is the same as Xlights test. Im a bit stumped as to why the color order is not changing. Running Xlights 4.3.02. Any help would be appreciated as Im unsure how to switch my color when model layout wont switch order for this string.

I'm pretty sure the test tab doesn't try to reorder the channels based on your model layout.  I think its always assuming an RGB ordering.  That's why to truly test a model just drop effects on a sequence on the grid.

In select all mode the test tab always starts with channel 1 being red, then every third channel after that is red.  The second one and every third one after that is green.  That is just the way it is built.  Change the color order in your controller and you will be fine.

Can i change color order on each usc? I tried flashing to square modules which got it to red blue green, but never tried flashing the usc as 1804 or anything. Wasnt for sure if it would work using 2811. Unless the string selection is just for colors.

Just had me stumped co sidering i was able to select brg yesterday with my holiday coro lights and fixed my issue of placing them to rgb when lit. But tonight with the other pixels i couldnt get the color order changed the same way of using the model layout.

Ill try flashing the usc to a different string type.

Thanks

Channel 1 is not necessarily red it depends on the color order of the string.  Channel 1 is just the first byte sent out so if it's a BRG string channel 1 controls blue, for a GRB string channel 1 controls green, etc.

I know that channel one is not necessarily red, but xlights assumes that it is red and when you select red it turns on channel 1, 4, 7, etc even if they are purple.  LOL

You don't really need to change your device.  Just change the RGB node order in xLights.  Just don't expect it to update on the Test tab....use a real sequence and effects to test your color order.

Ok. Appreciate it. I gave up to easy last year when i started trying pixels, plan to get it this year.

Been reading quickly while at work, but actually took time and look at the comments good, and understand the test now. No matter what order i say, the test is really going to turn on 1,2,3 and so on. Ill mess around and run a sequence.

I flashed the usc back to 2811, changed the node layout to BRG, ran a sequence and all is working correctly. I will remember this now and hopefully not have this issue again. Im sure more issues will arise as I head down the pixel road. Thanks for the replies.
