Is there a way to "grab" multiple models' timelines?
« on: February 06, 2016, 09:09:55 PM »
I was wondering if there is a way to "grab", for example, the end of 12 of 12 arches and move all the effects from one timing mark to another--to shorten or lengthen all of them to the same timing mark?   I see how to highlight multiple models' effects but if I try to shorten or lengthen all of them, only the last one highlighted moves.
Thanks!!!!

You can move multiple by selecting and holding shift.

Thank you sir!!!  I knew I had read that somewhere along the way but couldn't remember "how"!!
Ok, I should have reviewed the MANUAL first...   Sorry about that.    When I hold the shift key along with the left mouse (on a laptop trackpad), I can move all of the effects left to right but I am not able to extend the effects.   Am I missing something here??
Thanks...

I guess I read your request wrong. You can move the selected, you can even change multiple effects at once, but I don't think you can increase our decrease the effect length at once.

I could be wrong, so maybe others can chime in.

If you command click on a right or left edge of multiple effects (not in the center of effect), you can increase or decrease the length of those effects.  You can only drag until you run into another effect.  You can do this across multiple effects and models.

I've tried that and it doesn't work. It doesn't matter where you grab, they move right or left.

It does work, and has for a long time.  I can never remember which key to hold down, so I tested within the program right before I posted my response.

You must make sure that only a single side of the effect is highlighted (beginning or end does not matter).  Holding the command key down allows for multiple selections to be made.  When you click the last effect you want to adjust, keep the mouse button pressed and that will allow you to increase or decrease all selected effects at the same time.  If you let up on the mouse and re-click a highlighted effect it will deselect all of the other effects.

If the entire effect is moving left or right, then you have the whole effect selected, not just the ends.

Ok, got it. You can't select by dragging a box around the effects. You must select one at a time by holding down control. Then hold down shift and the side you highlighted can be adjusted.

By the way, you don't have to hold the mouse button down the entire time.

You can drag the yellow selection box around the ends too.  After the selections are made with the selection box, you must hold the command key down to select one of the ends of the highlighted effects.  This will deselect that effect, but you simply reselect it while still holding the command key down, and without letting up on the mouse, move the ends out.

Easier to do once you've done it versus trying to explain it all.

Well, KevinP said in words what I had created a video to show. You beat me to it Kevin. :)

At any rate, since the video is already created I thought I would at least share it for those who might want a visual.

Enjoy.

Yeah, that's not working for me. But at least I know it's possible.

Thanks for sharing.

This is perfect.  And it makes me realize I need to get a screen recorder on my Mac.

I use Debut Video Capture http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/.

They have a Mac version. Pricing for home use is $34.95. You can download a free demo to try it out.

I use Voila for all my Mac screen recording things.   It's 14.99 and available in the App store.  Seems to work OK.

I made a video to show how to do several types of edge selections:
