xlights RGBeffects file problem (solved)
« on: March 16, 2016, 06:16:30 AM »
Hi Guys.

Turned on xlights tonight after working on it last night and got a file read error for my RGBeffects xml file.
my xlights xml files are hosted on the dropbox so i can access the same file on different computers.

I found a copy on one of the computers that wasn't completely empty and attached it.

Is it all a start over or can it be recovered somehow.

That's about all I can tell you.

Very hopeful,
Steve

Are you actually pointing xlights to the file/folder on Dropbox instead of to a location on your hard drive?

Your "Face 1" model is completely corrupt.   There's a bunch of gibberish in the XML inside the faceInfo tag.   I've removed all of that, but you need to double check the face definition for that model as I'm sure it's now incomplete.

The reason I asked that is because it is risky to depend on that cloud connection. The XML file is written to frequently.

It may also block the use of the F10 backup process (which you may not be using)
