I made a new Xlights file (incomplete- needed additional work) using the Nutcracker features, saved it, opened and played it in preview. All very good.   Closed Xlights...later re-opened the file in Nutcracker only to find that I can't re-edit the file...No timing marks after I display the same features (I think I added them all).

Is this how it works or am I not re-opening the file correctly?

This might be the problem....the .xml files are not being stored in the Xlights folder but in a sub-folder (Vixen).  Looking into why that is.

When I move the xml files to the parent Xlights folder...it works..I'll get back  you.

Xml files will be saved in your show director. Do a "file, show directory" to see where yours is set to

Thanks Sean
All fixed....Show directory now set properly...

BTW: I know there is a video in which you described how to add additional effects to a Xlights file.  I've imported a .msq converted Xseq file and I want to over-right a few segments within the file with nutcracker effects.  I get how to add the nutcracker effects by adding start timing marks, build the effect for the desired model and then save it to the original file.  But how do you stop the effect from running past the "stopping" ( that is, the desired length of the segment I'm replacing) location in the file.  I've been putting a 'stopping' segment timing mark at the location I want the effect to stop and loading "None" at that location.....Is this the best way of doing this?  Will "none run for the remainder of the sequence and over write the files contents for that model?

use the Effect "None". Set both Effect1 and Effect2 to "None". This tells xlights to not produce anything. this works when you want whatever you imported to be left alone. If you really want to blank out a cell use ColorWash with one color of BLACK.
