P10 color difference
« on: March 28, 2016, 02:31:08 PM »
I set up my p10 panels and got em running fine. Made a simple test sequence with random effects and the colors are perfect. However I tried to do a video let it go. And it plays just fine but the colors are way off vs the preview screen in xlights. Here's a picture. The cape is purple in the xlights model view and the background is blue like the sky lol. Here in the pic and video it's whitish and gold for the cape.

Yep P10's aren't going to display the colors right.  You need to create a dimming curve to suit your tastes.  If you use effects that are all red, green, and blue it will look fine.  Other colors will be off.

Ok awesome. Richard renn also helped me figure out that I had rgb selected instead of RBG

Gil,

Speaking of color spaces, what color space does xLights operate in? For those wanting to create images we should be saving those to same colors space and I don't know what it is.

I'm thinking it's standard RGB converted to HSV.

Thanks,
Steve

I don't really know how to answer that.  We use both RGB and HSV internally depending on what we are doing.
