« on: April 02, 2016, 06:16:40 PM »
I get the following when I convert to an LMS file and try to open it in sequence editor. Error loading sequence.    An exception occurred! Type: UnexpectedEOFE Exception,  Message: the end of input was not expected

I'm not sure the conversion works on the latest lor versions.  Try opening in an older lor version to see.

Why would you want to convert back to lor anyway?

Because the LOR controllers don't work well in DMX mode. And I've tried but I can't get xlights to do a good twinkle or Shimmer. Everytime I try it just looks like random blinking.

Not sure if you know, but the lor controllers handle twinkle and shimmer onboard. A command is sent to the controller and then it executes. So, no matter the network speed those effects should look the same.

I don't use ac lights, but the shimmer like effects that I've done come out fine. Sounds like you may need to look at your network.

I just removed the Lor controllers from my DMX Network  and plugged in a Renard plus 32 bored I built last year with derkcheap SSRs. And the twinkle and Shimmer work fine. Proving that there's not a problem with the network. And yes I know that the LOR boxes use a special command to do twinkle and shimmer internally

For the original post I believe that occurs when you use an LMS file that was created with a beta version of LOR software.

If you havent paid for LOR (Using the trial version), when you create a lms file it is not xml, it is binary. Try viewing your lms file in an editor.

The error you are getting is consistent for someone who does not have a license and creates a lms file.

I'm converting in X lights to LMS file and I get that error when I'm attempting to open in sequence editor and I have a current Advanced license using version 4.3.4. I have been able to import from the LMS file in to Xlights without a problem

i dont think anyone has touche dthe export to lms code in half a year or more.

BTW, most people create a lcb not a lms file when going back into lor. The LOR Clipboard (*.lcb) is more flexible because you can paste the import onto any channel.

Ok I read your original post backwards.  I thought you were trying to bring an LMS file into xLights not exporting to LOR.  LOR has been making changes to their program and it likely they did something that breaks things.  They aren't going to care about fixing it and we don't have access to their source code.  We do our best to reverse engineer their formats.  I had another user last year who had a sequence that I just could not get to open in the newer version 4.x of the sequence editor.  I could never figure out what was wrong and LOR didn't give a good error message.  I was able to do the same operations just fine on my sequences but it wouldn't work with that user's sequence.  It would likely take you doing some trial and error cutting down on the number of models and effects you are trying to move over and see if you can isolate what it breaking things.

I started to see the same issue. I can open other LMS files I have exported before fine with LOR, but newly converted files gives me an error "The end of input was not expected"

Don't think I can say anything more that what I said in my previous post in this thread.  Until someone can figure out what LOR doesn't like about the file we write then we don't know how to fix it.  We do our best to help everyone import and export to/from all the other programs.  Most of those other programs don't give a darn if you can import our files.  So dump them and hit them in the wallet and if enough people do that they will start to pay attention.

Are you able to work out if there is a release of xlights where it first broke?

UnexpectedEOFException.

EOF=End of File.

What does a good sequence 'end of file' look like vs this one would be where I'd start looking.
