Model for 3D Bethlehem Star
« on: April 25, 2016, 08:56:28 PM »
Nothing like jumping off in the deep end. :P
I need some suggestions on the best way to approach custom modeling in XL for a 3D wire frame star that I copied several years back from this thread:
http://doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/showthread.php?4671-3D-Bethlehem-Star&p=43091#post43091

Jerome posted a picture of his star here:
 http://doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=3097&d=1230868790

I have:
12 pixels on each leg (24) of the six short star points.
12 pixels on each of the eight rays(8).
20 pixels on each leg (8) of the two long star points.
6 pixels on each leg (12) of the cube.

I might be getting it. If I slice down the center of the picture and flatten the two sides, I can make a model from that.

I ended up creating 3 models, one for each axis.

Do you have any videos of working effects?

Nope, not that far yet. Just taking a break and thinking ahead. Since I can't seem to find a real pixel rope light.. I'm making my own. so far, I have daisy chained and soldered 384 APA106-F5 Pixel LED's together. Another 232 and I'm there. ;D Just keep swimming...

Oops, meant to point my question about video to Joel, but either way. Just curious how it looks. I'm always interested in new props.
