Feedback: 2016.28 and OpenGL
« on: May 10, 2016, 01:50:18 PM »
Hey Guys,

Just an update.  I was still having OpenGL crash problems back with version 26...Version 28 works now if I use OpenGL2.....Auto detect and OpenGL3 still crash.....  Looks like these AMD's just need to stick at 2.....  Works for me.

Thanks Dan....Guess you saw my post after all...  ;D

28 is not officially released., one change in it relating positioning timing marks at 0.0 seconds needs to be undone.. i will let you know of the official release.

But the funny part is OpenGL has not been touched since v26.  I guess it's the placebo effect.

Interesting..... I reinstalled 26 just in case I had a bad install....but it didn't fix the issue....  Now it works in 28.... Elves at work!   ;D

Well shoot..... I saw it on the download page and just assumed (yeah I know 'bout assumed) it was released..... I've already done some saves using it.....  Will I need to go back and re-save once it's officially released?  Or should I back up to 22....until then.... But then I don't know if 22 will work on a sequence saved in 28.......

2016.28 is released now. It has no changes to Opengl. 26,27,28 sjould all behave teh same, opengl wise.
This release as a new importer for timign tracks. Import in LOR lms timing to a track, import in papagayo pgo files

Thanks for the response Sean..... GL2 worked for me on .28 so I'm a happy camper.....  Not sure why .26 was crashing but that's not an issue now.

I don't think the plan is to leave those OpenGL rollback options in there forever so you really need it to work under AutoDetect or start feeding Dan info to fix it.

Autodetect doesn't work either.....If I click on a 'picture' effect not only does it crash....it locks up and the OK button doesn't do anything and won't even generate the bug report.....   Other times I hit OK and the screen grays out and after a couple of minutes XL just crashes.  The cancel button doesn't ALWAYS work and I have to go to Task Manager and shut down XL completely.

Since it's not generating a bug report could you tell me what I need to do or how to 'feed' Dan the info....?

Tools menu. Package problem files. It will contain the log he needs.

Thanks Sean,

File posted.... I finally (after several attempts) was able to click on the OK button in the debug box and get it to work.....  I hope that works in lieu of the Tools>Package Problem Files method.  I tried the tools method but it just hilighted the file created by the debug box....and I figured you wouldn't need a zip of a zip.....

I was using Autodetect when this crash occurred.  I can click on a regular effect in the sequence and it plays fine in preview.  When I click on a picture effect in the sequence the debug box pops up......but you can see the picture  in preview.  You just can't do anything further since the debug box prevents any further actions other than OK or cancel.

OpenGL2 is the only option that works completely for me.  OpenGL1 doesn't crash but I can't see the icons in the sequencer area....but the effects do play in preview to include picture effect.  OpenGL3 and Auto detect both give me complete crashes.

If I can help with any other information please let me know.

I am seeing that when I open a sequencec I see everything as normal, once I zoom in the effects get all screwy and the audio wave disappear.  Int he screen shot I have opened the group ArchesAll and the effects you see are supposed to be on the Arch1, Arch2, - Arch5 but are at the top of the screen.  The audio wave is missing as well.  In OpenGL2 it works fine

All we can do with that screenshot is say:  Bummer.
