Scripts are really pretty easy.  Start reading several of them and you will should easily get the gist of what they do.  You may have to do some trial and error on modifications, but for the most part they are simply text files that you can update and save.

When you download a script from the Script Repository, it then shows up in the File Manager under the Scripts tab.

You can then open and read them and edit them if needed. I needed to enter the name of my own playlist for a start script.

The Big Button plugin for FPP allows up to 10 buttons on screen currently in a 2-column grid.  I could easily change this to allow more buttons and a larger number of columns.

FPP v1.5 also includes a script editor so you no longer have to download a script to edit it, you can edit right from the File Manager screen.  You will need to download and reupload to copy or rename, I haven't implemented those functions in the FPP File Manager yet.

I'm certain that when I tried to edit a script three days ago that it did not Save, saying it couldn't write. Since then, I've stopped and restarted FPPD a few times, but NOW it will let me edit in the File Manager.

I'm trying to set up an Event. I can see my scripts in the drop down list, But I'm not seeing a sequence in that drop down list. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, Jim

This is my next area of research as I have so far only used xlights for live show control...although my way of using it is not really as design and development intends. But it sounds like fpp is next.  I'll be sure to post up what I learn too since I'm particularly interested in continuing to use xlights in live scenarios.  I use a novation launch pad in conjunction with audio stuff and have also adapted it for moving light patterns, but not yet for led shows...although it's quite a logical step.

I too am really keen for some simpler way of achieving live show control.. I will to bring some form of interactivity to my show.. At the moment i am planning on playing with a rewired guitar hero guitar and the rasberry pi2 with the hope of somehow getting the guitar to trigger the pi inputs which then activate certain effects in my show.. But its all in the dreams pile for the moment.. Hahaha

Hey miker,

xmas with a twist mate.. If i can get the guitar hero setup working then i would like to simulate a band with the theme of santa and the elves (me and family and friend dressed up) rocking out for a couple of performances each weekend of december, and then allow the passersby to have a play on 'stage' if they wish..

I envisage a standard muusic sequence show running in the background but having the guitars, etc, blasting the key colours on each 'strum' across certain models..

I could be just thinking pie in the sky but u gotta dream big right?

Excellent!  A quick look around shows that some folks have made adaptation programs for the guitars to make them midi controllers, so if you can pipe midi messages to the fpp that start/stop sequences it's probably closer to your big dream than you think!

This guys program looks like an awesome start!
