Virtual strings?
« on: May 22, 2016, 11:06:35 PM »
Hi

Not sure where to post this or even if it already a feature but I do my best to describe what I would like to happen.

I have four arches in front of my house and as part of these arches I have a fan effect which is a custom model.  On each fan , the bottom of the fans are pixels 1-15 and than 91-105.  Is there a way I can create a virtual string that would only access these 30 pixels and that maybe group all 4 of the bottom parts of the so the behave like a single string?

Thanks

You can do this by making a custom model. You'll just need to know the start channel for each virtual string.
Once you've got the custom models done, you can then add them to a model group and drop the effect on the model group.

You might even be able to create a single custom model.

Do not ask to know all the answers, but ask to understand the question.

Depending on what sort of effects you are trying to achieve , have you had a look at the Sub buffer selection functionality of Layer settings which allows you to say target the lower components of the arches only ?
