At 17:15 when you press Save, why do the xLights Effects Icons go to all black?

I have normally associated that with slow hard disk access. Not sure why though drive latency would cause those icons to reset for a save.

They go black because just before we save we disable them the immediately on the Ui update thread we work really hard saving. So it never gets a chance to paint the disabled state ... Hence black.

So with the different views available now (Thanks Gil) if I have a view for lets say my house and both my neighbors houses is there a way to make a whole house view that would allow a effect to be applied to all the different views at the say time? Say like the bars affect or curtain.

Sure you can create a group that contains models from all the previews.  But those effects you mention won't work like you want.  Each preview resides in the same global positioning space so currently there is no way to specify that preview 1 is on the left of preview 2.  Once you start allowing previews to have an offset from each other then models groups will group in size because they would need to cover the pixel space of all previews for some of the render buffer styles.

Hi Sean,

During the tutorial you briefly spoke about IPad control of the FPP, and some additional functionality such as adding instant sequences on the fly.

Is that functionality available yet?  Were you speaking of an app that can be downloaded now?

Thanks
Dave

You control the FPP from an iPad using the web browser.

Yes, control from the Ipad.

What I'm asking about is the functionality described at 1:14:00

will that be included with an upcoming version of FPP?

Sean is talking about the "big buttons" plugin for FPP.  It gives you up to 10 buttons on a simple web interface.  Each button can run a different script on the FPP system and you can use those scripts to start/stop sequences, run effects sequences, or anything else you can do from a script with FPP or Linux.

Now if Sean would just change the title to this thread to indicate the date and not the word "tonight".
