PC to Mac Migration - Models missing
« on: June 28, 2016, 02:59:04 PM »
Have a friend who is interested in helping sequence my show this year (no...no one else can be his friend this year!).  Only issue is he has a Mac and I use a PC.

We've downloaded the MAC version of the software and set up the folders on the mac and copied the xlights_rgbeffects.xml, xlights_networks.xml, and xlights_keybindings.xml files over to the MAC system as well as one of the songs I was working on. I can open the sequence in xlights, but none of my models are showing on the preview on the MAC.  Any tips/tricks/suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I suggest you tell us the version of xLights you are using on both systems.

Using 2016.34 on both systems.

First make sure all the model group boxes are unchecked to force all models to show up.  You can always look at the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file and see if you see your models listed.

We have "built in all models" and "built in my display" showing under the model groups. We can create new models which show on the house preview but it isn't loading anything from the PC file. We have opened the RGB effects file and there is data in there. We are both currently using version 34. There are no element names listed on the screen at this time. Next steps or any ideas?

Did you click on "built in all models"?  That should show all the models.

Well its kinda like you called a car mechanic and looked for a diagnosis over the phone.  Sometimes you gotta drive the car into the shop.  So I don't know what you want do we can sit here guessing all day.  Do I have to beg to see the files?

Gil...I erased everything on the Mac....reinstalled the newest version and created a folder, dropped my files in and everything worked as expected. I'm guessing he might have fiddled with something prior to us trying the first time.  Anyways, whatever problem I had has been solved.  Thanks very much for your help!
