I want to use E1.31 with an LOR controller
« on: August 28, 2014, 12:17:09 PM »
I'm currently using an E682 for the pixel tree   I also have an LOR controller to run 8 RGB floods.

The show will run from the PiPlayer, so the USB converters are out.

1. Is there an E131 controller that will do dumb rgb ?
2. What are my options to do E131 to DMX. The LOR controller can do LOR or DMX.

Thanks
Steve

I own several P12's. The new S model has two DMX ports as well 12 12 SPI ports and runs from one ethernet E.131. --Greg--

Thanks Greg

After looking into this further, the e682 can output DMX as well. I'll burn up 4 ports to do it, but I have those free anyhow. (Each bank of 4 has to have the same ouput type)   I'll have to test this and report back.

Yes indeed the E682 was able to output DMX  to the LOR CMB24 controller.

A quick jumper change on both controllers, a 3 wire DMX/Cat5 cable and I was up and running in 10 minutes

Thanks!

Yes the Raspberry PI has 2 USB ports, however those are not used by the Falcon PI software for output.

Yes they are.  The Falcon Player supports using USB serial dongles to output DMX, PixelNet, and Renard. This support was added back in the v0.3.0 image which has been out for months.

Ok great!  Thanks Captain. Christmas has arrived early! That just freed up 4 ports on my E682.
