Dumb string model question
« on: July 30, 2016, 07:51:05 PM »
Hey all,

I'm playing and experimenting and was trying to add a model of a wireframe made from a single LED dumb string.  But I can't figure out how to add it as a model in the layout tab.  I tried to set Nodes/String to 1 but when I do my start channel is okay at 1 but it is obviously seeing this as a pixel node because my end channel is 3.....

I seem to recall someone doing a video or write up on how to add and drive single dumb strings.  I poked around the forum and couldn't find anything...

Can someone offer a how to or point me to a video or instruction on how to do this?

Thanks

Is it dumb RGB?  If so, then yeah, you would have three channels: R, G,  B

If it's a single color LED, then do what Gil said and change the string type.

Even if it's dumb RGB you still change the string type to "3 channel RGB".  That way you can have it still be 50 nodes but only 3 channels.

One color....not RGB.  That's why I was trying to get to 1 channel.... My wireframes are made from single strings of LEDs (that used to be incads before I made the switch to LED)...I thought about switching to RGB of some flavor but since the wireframe characters don't change colors.....I decided to just stay with old fashioned stringers....  Could you imagine 8 lifesize GREEN reindeer?   :o
