morph between 2 effects seems to work randomly...
« on: August 29, 2014, 02:08:38 PM »
Hello all, just wondering if its something I am doing incorrectly, but I'll create a sequence, add 2 effects, hit the morph button and 'play' the sequence and it 'may' work. Seems random that occasionally it is fine, other times it stays on effect 1 for the time duration and ignores effect 2. If it works, and I modify one of the effect settings (1 or 2), it again may or may not morph.

Its really a great feature and would like to use it more. Are there other settings that need to be set for this to work every time or is the morph setting documented anywhere?

Thanks,

Bob

it works  , i am not sure what you are seeing.

Let me give u an example.

row 1 is at 0.0 seconds.
effect1 is meteors, effect 2 is butterfly

row 2 is 10 seconds
effect 1 is spirals, effect 2 is colorwash

row 3 is 25 seconds

morph is checked for both rows. What will you see?

starts with meteors morphs into butterfly over 10 seconds.
at 10 seconds jumps to spirals over next 15 seconds morphs into colorwash.

if you did not want a jump at the end of the first row, make effect1 on row 2 also a butterfly effect with the exact same settings as effect2 from row 1.

Thanks Sean, i think I figured out what my issue is; I was building the sequence incorrectly (or maybe out of sequence...)  If you create a 5 minute sequence, and add 10 blank rows lets say at 25 second intervals, BUT ONLY THE FIRST ROW HAS EFFECTS and the remaining 9 are still empty, the first row does not morph. If I add an effect (or two w/ morph) to row 2, then row one will morph (but you guessed it, row two will not morph if that setting is checked). I tried a few things and it appears the last row in a sequence will not morph. Had me a tad buggy trying to figure out what was going on.

Appreciate the quick response...

Bob

Trying to use morph to crossfade between effects and I think I'm doing it correctly, but I'm still seeing the effect that was crossfaded to 'jump' when the time line advances to the next cell immediately after the morph.

So for example:

1) At 10 sec Bars is the effect 1 and none for effect 2

2) At 15 sec I have Bars as effect 1 and rainbow as effect 2, with morph checked
The output will be a smooth 5 sec crossfade from Bars to Rainbow

3) At 20 sec I have Rainbow as effect 1 (with same settings as it was in effect 2).
The playback will 'jump' as if the rainbow effect has started over, instead of smoothly continuing to play from the 19.99 second point forward.

If the effect is running at a fast enough speed, then the jump isn't very obvious, but I'm running the speed fairly low to suit the mood of the song...

Am I doing this correctly?

Is there something I can do differently to make the effect continue to play through the crossfade without starting over?

It is my understanding that morph or any of the other parameters are only good during a time slot and not across time slots.  I think there is some interest in a longer term look at something like you are looking for but it is not there now.
