Lost display element in LOR to Xlight/Nutcracker conversion
« on: August 07, 2016, 08:18:33 PM »
I have created models for all of my display elements. I performed the initial convert of a LOR sequence to get the channel mappings and set them all up. However, there is one element in my LOR sequence that is not being seen or processed. I have 5 single channel wreaths. The issue is that they span 2 LOR controllers.
Wreath 1,2 and 3 are on LOR controller/channel 2-3,2-4 and 2-5. However wreath 4 and 5 are on LOR controller/channel 6-12 and 6-13.

This element never appears in the verbose channel map. I do have an element at LOR controller channel 2-6, 2-7, 2-8 and 2-9. I made the assumption that wreath 1,2 and 3 would map to xlight channel 3,4 and 5 considering where the element that did map was.

I am using sequences that go back to 2005 when I first started with LOR and at one time had 10 controllers. Over time I have dropped LOR controllers and now the sequences aren't sequential in their numbering. If I looked at it right I am using controller # 2,3,4,6 and 9. The one element that spans multiple controllers is the 28 mini trees. It uses channels from controllers 2,3 and 4 (2-11 thru 2-16, 3-1 thru 3-6 and 4-1 thru 4-16). This element mapped perfectly.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Not sure why the one element wont convert other than it spanning non-consecutive controllers (is this by design or a possible bug?)

Appreciate the assistance ...

An after thought. The 5 wreaths are in fact separate single strand (incan) elements. Not sure the controller/channel would be an affecting issue with why they were not recognized in the conversion.

You'd need to host your files somewhere that we could download them.  The LMS file and the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file you're using for the conversion.

Here is a dropbox link to the LMS file and rgbeffects file that was asked for.

Let me know if there is a problem with the link.

Thank you for the help...

Your problem is channels 2-3, 2-4, and 2-5 do not exist in that LMS file.

Try opening the file in Notepad++ and search for this and you will find it:
unit="2" circuit="6"

But  you do these 3 searches nothing is found:
unit="2" circuit="3"
unit="2" circuit="4"
unit="2" circuit="5"

I looked at every LOR channel in your file and there are no channels defined on Unit 2 below 6.

I stand before you with a gigantic "S T O O P I D" sign stuck to my forehead .....

I had two directories for LOR files. One for editing and one for production. The production was there because I used SuperStar for pixels and after I exported the file I ran it through a utility I wrote to take out the 7 macro lines in the XML file.

It seems that I kept opening the LOR editor which was bringing up the edit files while thinking I was looking at production. As it turns out, changes in last years display removed the 5 wreaths...

I can only describe this an ID-10-T error ....

Thank you for your time and the fresh set of eyes..
I do learn from my mistakes and next time I will know to look at the files before I leap....

Again ... thank you for your time, patience and a GREAT product ...
