Nodes in sub models
« on: August 20, 2016, 07:43:08 AM »
I have set up some sub models and now wanted to set up some effects on them. I wanted to do them by the node level and I see we can't

Doesn't putting effects on nodes in sub models defeat the purpose of creating sub models?

I'll do some testing here but I think its more about we lost the ability to go to the node level in custom models . all my sub's are out of custom models

Yes, there is no node level is sub models.  I don't know if this is by design, but I don't see why you would want node level on sub models.  To me, the reason to create sub models is so you don't have to go to the node level.

However, I did check on my custom models and I can still reach all nodes.  I'm using v46.

I'll have to check tomorrow when I get home. I'm on an older laptop and sometimes it acts funny .

I am trying to understand what we would use this for..... I have multi custom models. The nicest is a 5 pointed star. I have a model for the complete outside, 1 for a circle in the middle and then 5 models for each what I call leg of the star. and then I have a group that holds those 7 models.

help me out here.

instead of a group I have 1 model and then 7 subs.?

what is the difference?

If I make a change to the model will all the subs follow.  Like Brightness???

To me the difference...  cleans up grid, I believe it will make sharing easier as you export only one model now, a lot easier to create.

Not to be captain obvious, but you don't have to use them.

I would say yes. Isn't that how you would want it?

Oh Yes that is Great

Globally changing everything underneath me on a particular effect would be a help, it would take out some of the tedious stuff.

You guys are all so smart.

I am just glad I can make some of this stuff work

now where is that off button  8)
