How to Set Up Arches
« on: August 23, 2016, 02:01:46 PM »
I have 4 arches in my display. While I'm making a big switch to pixels this year, the arches will still be on old-fashioned AC controllers.

In xLights, you can add 4 arch models, and place them into a group. Alternatively, you can set up one arch model, and specify the "# Arches" parameter to 4.

Any pros/cons doing it either way? I don't want to paint myself into a corner.

Part of the answer to your question depends on if all the arches start on the same side.  When I had AC arches two started from the left and two started from the right... that way my controllers were between 1&2 and 3&4.

If you can start all the arches from one side then my preference is to make an "arch" and make #arches = 4.  Then you can apply an effect to all 4 at once... OR... by expanding the model by double clicking, you can see the 4 individual arches and place effects on each one individually.  I've attached screen shots below showing how I would setup 4 arches that have 8 segments each.

If your arches start from different sides then make 4 individual arches and then create a group containing all 4 arches.
