issue with HC faces and the faces effect
« on: August 25, 2016, 06:11:15 PM »
I have defined a model for the HC Skull.  I defined what all the strand node names are and have imported the LOR sequence I used last year as effects, using the mapping import.  and everything works fine.

I then go back into the model and assign all the face attributes for each phoenom.  including the eyes open/closed as well as the outline.

I start a new sequence and define a lyric track with all the words broken down to phoenons.  I drop a face effect on the HC SKULL and set the eyes to auto and turn on the outline.  all I get is the mouth movements for the effect.

I'm missing something.

can anybody suggest something??

Ok I'll try to add more info...maybe someone will see what I'm not doing....

The first imape is of the HC pumpkin.  This model was defined and I have imported effects from last years LOR sequences without issues.  however I started a new sequence and dropped the face on it and as you can see the mouth movements are devined but the outline and eyes do not show.

The second image is my round_hd guy.  I defined this model but I do not have any channels mapped for import as this guy wasn't a part of my sequences last year.  Hear you can see the outline is turned on and the eyes are turned on.

so is there a difference when a model is mapped for imported and one that is not???

this is driving me nuts!!!!!

any suggestions...anyone...anyone.....

I don't know I haven't done a node range face yet.  Have you tried the new sequence checker in tools to see if you have channel overlaps?

did the check sequence.  no issues were listed.  I'm running the latest release .48.

I have another sequence where I created a face on a matrix using node ranges.. (that was an RGB matrix)and it work fine.

I can manually go in and turn the outline on, however if I copy and pasted that effect into the next timing mark the manual effects disappear.

figured it out...with the help of the wed night web meeting.  it has to do with the color of the single line.  color on model must match the color set on a single color in the appearance attributes...it not some strange things may occur.

thanks to all the help and especially to the web meeting group

We figured this out in the weekly web meeting this evening.  He had his string color set to a specific color on the model.  The individual channels making up the face had either no color or a different color than what was set for the model as a whole....so the preview didn't show the model.  Once we took out the model color OR set the channels making up the model to the same color set for the whole model...everything worked.

So the Force Custom Colors box was checked under the Face Definitions?  I don't even know what that does.

For the non-RGB models, it's useful to avoid this exact problem.  If you "force" the color to whatever color the lights are, it will ignore the color palette and always use the given color so the face appears.   My orange pumpkin for example is forced to Orange.  Thus, if the palette has purple selected or similar, it ignores that and always uses orange.

I think I have these files.  I'll go back and look at this because I don't see why it wouldn't work.  Forcing the color shouldn't make it not work.
