Crash trying to view nodes of a custom model
« on: September 13, 2016, 10:14:53 PM »
I built a custom model for my spider eyes.  I then wanted to control each node of this model individually.  I can right click and toggle from the spider eyes model down to the eyez string level but when I tried to go from the eyez level to the node level it crashed.

I have been playing with xlights all day and it has crashed/locked up a few times.  I started out just thinking it was just newbie mistakes and headed on.  Then tonight I started thinking that maybe I am the perfect tester (capable of finding no end of bugs due to using the program in unconventional/unintelligent ways).  Do you want people to send all their crash reports?  Anyway here it is.

Yeah we already had 2 crash reports from you.  If you hit OK on the crash dialog then we can see them.  I don't know what's causing this but usually if there is something that can cause a crash it tends to keep happening so I don't think you are finding a bunch of bugs.  You know you can expand and contract to the different strand and node levels by double-clicking the row headings.  Maybe try that instead of the right-click menu and see if it makes a difference.  I notice you are on a Mac.  If there is a problem going to the node level it's not happening for me and would be something new because it used to work just fine.

So I was just looking at the release notes for today's release and saw something that probably fixed this issue already.  The windows version is being released by Sean right now.  Dan should post Mac version soon I'd expect.

Great, thanks for the help as now I understand this process a lot better (you can totally tell I am newbie).  I crashed it again this morning to look more closely at the crash dialog box that comes up.  I see where I can write my description of what happened in the box.  I will send the reports only for crashing in different ways and not for things that seem simillar (I managed to crash yesterday in a few totally different ways).
As for double click on the row heading, instead of right click, it works like a charm.
This software and the support for it is amazing!  Thanks for all the hard work that you all put into it.
