Ghost timing marks
« on: September 24, 2016, 11:29:25 AM »
I've had something come up in most of the versions of xlights I have downloaded. I'll set up my timing grid and while sequencing I'll have some timing marks that act like they're not even there when I drop an effect into a block it spans across the timing grid like it doesn't exist. I've had something similar happen with copy and paste. Not sure if I did something wrong or if it's a bug. I had one sequence was so bad I recreated the timing marks with a new timing and then deleted the old one. Is there a way to fix this when it happens?

If you select more than one track only the first track will work.

I have had this happen with sequences that only had one timing track. Everything will be fine until I get to a certain point in the song and some of the timing marks act like they're not there and give me hell if I want to move or delete them. Even if I can delete them and I try to recreate them in that particular area they act up still. Not sure if this would have anything to do with it but I'm thinking most of these timing tracks were made on an earlier version with a different computer. Could the timing track be corrupt?

No I'm not convinced there are any problems with any timing marks.  You need to provide files and specific instructions to show the problem.

I will see if any of the songs that I'm still sequencing have that problem and forward the info. The ones that were giving me trouble I made up a new timing track and deleted the old one to cure the problem or moved the effect to match the timing mark. I was curious if anybody ran across this and if there was a shorter way to fixing the problem. Other than that I love the software and I'm almost completely converted from Lor with only a few problems mainly due to learning curve

I'm not trying to be a jerk but I know that part of the code so well that I'm sure what you are saying isn't possible.  At least what you thought was happening isn't possible.  There can't be a few timing effects that are broken.  All the effects operate using the same base code.  If you can produce a sequence where dropping an effect isn't working I'm sure there is a simple explanation.  Like I said you can't activate more than one timing track and expect the cells to work.  We allow you to select more than one track when you are not on the master view but only the top selected track will allow you to drop effects.

I didn't think you were being a jerk. I just went through a few old sequences to find a problem area I found one but there were 4 timing marks on top of each other looking like one when I highlighted on one side of the line it would span across like the line wasn't there but on the other side that acted normal. I deleted all of those timing marks and brought the next closest timing mark over to span the gap then put new timing marks in and now it acts normal. Not sure how I ended up with 4 timing marks on top of each other.
