HELP with objects

Hoping someone can help, not sure if it is something I am doing wrong or if it is an issue with the objects themselves. 

When i go to pull an object into the layout, all the objects create the item in the layout, such as tree, circle, wreath, matrix, poly line, star, etc.  they all pull the shape of that object into the layout then you can update the customization of those objects. 

However when i go pull in Single Line or Arch, no object shows up on the layout, and even after I put in all the customizations, still no object displays on the layout.  it shows a white dot on the layout.  Can someone assist and let me know if they have the same issue or if this is a BUG that needs to be fixed? I need to get 4 universes created and i cannot get anything laid out without these items in my layout so dont know if i need to go back to a previous version in order to do this or what i need to do as no matter what i do, i cannot get these 2 objects to work in the layout.

For the arches I remember needing to click on the Arch, then hold down the left mouse button and draw a box in the house picture/black box area... the arch(es) will fill inside the box.

Until you drag a box I don't believe the arches show.

All the models are designed to click and drag to set the initial size.  Some of the models just happen to have a larger default size.
