Faliure
« on: October 16, 2016, 02:34:57 AM »
I have tried reseting the setup page, put it all on multicast. I did everything all the tutorials have said in layout and everything else. I managed to fix the overlap problem, clicked on test lights, 2 spinners , and on one only 3/4 of the lights worked and nothing shows on the other. I tried setting for unicast and everything overlaps I am completely dismayed and will probably go back to LOR where I had no problems. I will probably have no lights for the year. thanks everyone. good luck.

Stuart, I understand and appreciate your frustration.  Are you asking for help or just saying goodbye?  If you have some lights it's probably a setup issue. Hardware and set up screen shots could help.

I assume this is a continuation of this thread:
http://nutcracker123.com/forum/index.php?topic=3534.msg22123#msg22123

Stuart we are sorry you're having trouble but we asked you to post your xlights_rgbeffects.xml file in that thread and I never saw you provide it.  I asked you to create a video of the problem and you said you didn't know how.  How do you expect us to help you when  you aren't able to provide anything we ask?  Most people find xLights fairly simple to use.  If you don't then maybe LOR is a better fit for you.  If you want to come back for help we are here.  You had 2 xLights developers trying to help you in that thread.

I have used both xlights and LOR.  LOR is utter garbage in comparison.  There is too much time left and too many resources and tools available to fail at this.  If you fail, it is ALL on YOU.  If need help, PM me.  We can do a teamviewer session.  It is something you are doing wrong.  Most likely the solution(s) will be easy and quick to fix.

That should be enough to see your models and look for overlaps.  I won't be home for several hours though.

Suggest that you also provide your xlights_networks.xml file as I get error messages saying xlights can't calculate the start channel for your Single Line models. When I create a bunch of E.31 universes, that message goes away but the channel numbers look very strange, with overlaps all over the place.

Attached is info on your overlaps.  You could have done the same thing... tools/check sequence.  Your two spinners are using the same channels.  Is this what you want?  You have other models that overlap.  This may be what you want, but if it's not then you need to fix this.

Also, I don't use LOR anymore but I think the best option is to put your LOR at the beginning of your setup.
