How i built my arches
« on: October 18, 2016, 09:41:43 AM »
I built these arches in 2013.. They go up very fast, just a minute or two. They have withstood 50mph winds.

i used 15' of 1/2" grey emt, flex strips cable tied on outside of pipe facing down. one 1/2" steel emt in the center of arche. this kept pipe vertical. i used paracord tied on the bottom edge, pull paracord until arch if formed. basically the arch is held up with one bolt in the center.

Did you loop the para-chord around your arch ends, or did you use the metal angle as a "hook" idea?

My arches use a T at the ends and then two short legs to hold the arch upright.  I put a small screw (not all the way in) in order for the paracord to have something to catch on and not slide up the pole.

Both great ideas.  I've always pounded rebar in at angles then slipped the pipe over that to form the arch.  But with 24 arches and 48 pieces of rebar my arm felt like jello only after a dozen or so.  Anything that makes it faster is always a plus and since they're being replaced this year, I might have to look into these ideas.

I echo grodq's thoughts....    I have used rebar on my arches for 4 years now.  It works well and it is not difficult to do, but does take some time...   Will set a goal for future setups that I can put stuff up quickly and efficiently!  I will copy some of these designs!

I have it lucky. I bought aluminum  t angle and at work we have a roller to form curves. After I bent them up I face screw square bullets to them
