Model split between 2 controllers
« on: October 18, 2016, 03:28:08 PM »
Hi,

First, I am using two F16v2s as controllers.  I setup my house outline using the new poly line model type (which is amazing by the way).  There are approximately 900 nodes in the model and because of the distance and number of other models I have on my controllers I have the first 600 nodes attached to the first controller and the last 300 nodes attached to the second controller.  I was struggling to get this configured both on the two F16v2 controllers as well as xLights.  I have it working, but I was hoping there was a cleaner way to do it.

I wasn't sure if I could go beyond the 32K channel limit so I started the model on channel 27649.  I configured 58 universes in the E.131 setup on the first F16v2 and 6 universes (starting at Universe 58) on the second F16v2.  I set the length of universe 58 on the first F16v2 to 264.  I then started the second F16v2 controller with Universe 58 but a starting channel of 29449 and a length of 248 channels.    The networks in xlights match this as well so universe 58 shows up twice.

The model starts on channel 27649 (Universe 55).

Is there a better way to do this?  My brain was hurting last night when I was trying to figure this out :)

Thanks in advance.

hard to visualize without xlights_rgbeffects.xml and xlights_networks.xml files.

i normally set up my networks as 32 universes of 510. absolute channel number in xlights, falcon and fpp makes it all tie together.

Let me simplify the question.  If you were going to split up a line model (roof outline) between 2 different models...how would you recommend going about it both at the controller and xLights level?

If you split the model up in xlights then there is no reason to split it up in the controller, it's already split.
There are some options:
1.  Create two models, then group.
2.  Create a polyline, then define each segment's channels.
3.  Custom model.

I know this is an old topic.   Question for Jim--to make sure I am getting this--if I need to start one side of my roof outline from the right side of my house (connected to controller #1) and I need to start the other side of my roof outline from the left of my house (controller #2), then I need to setup two polyline models, right?   THANKS.

I have some strings set as reverse in the controller so that all my channels go left to right even though some of the strings are connected at the right hand end.  My controller is roughly in the center of my house.
