Ubuntu auto updates xlights?

I'm running Ubuntu desktop 16.04 lts on a laptop and the other day the software update box for the is popped up and one of the items it wanted to update was xlights. I declined at the time since I wasn't sure if it was safe or legit and didn't want to hose my install of xlights.

Anyone have experience with this?

if you installed the PPA it is totally legit.  Normally occurs within a day of the release of a new version.   I have stopped building my own version and use this method now.
