12 ccr tree configuration
« on: October 27, 2016, 11:21:19 AM »
Hello All, I am working on trying to configure my 12 ccr tree. I am using Alphapix controller and xlights software. The problem I am having is the preview in xlights is working correctly but the actual tree is not displaying correctly. This is my first year and fairly new at this but I have everything working correctly but the tree. I have it set up as 12 strings 50 nodes in xlights. The alphapix is 16 output so I was just going to use one output per string. Not sure if that is the correct way, but anyways I think the problem is in my settings of the controller but I am not sure. Does anyone have a configuration for this setup on hand or can help with what the settings should be. I am not sure if it needs zig zag or not either. I can get the tree to work but each strand is doing the same pattern at the same time or I can get it where they are different bbut not following the sequence correctly. Any help is much appreciated!

I would post screenshots of your xlights setup and controller setup. Then we can look at what you have. My guess is it's something simple that isn't configured correctly.

If you are doing one strand per output then you shouldn't need zig zag.

Here are my screenshots. With the setup I have with these screenshots, only the first 4 strings are lighting up. Not sure what to do here. The strands of lights I am using are the holidaycoro Smart / Pixel RGB LED Strip 30 LEDs/m 10 Pixels. Any help with configuring this correctly is much appreciated!

Thanks,
Ray

Why is the controller set for 150 nodes per output, you said it's 50.
You should include the xlights setup so we can see that.
Have you used the onboard test on the controller? If so, how did that go?

I can set the controller nodes to 50 but it still ends up being the same issue of only the first four strings lighting up and the colors do not match the xlights preview. What part of the xlights do you need? I posted one part of it. I did use the onboard test and all strands work correctly. The strands I bought from holiday coro have 150 led lights on the whole strands. Should it be 150 nodes in xlights and controller? I did try those changes but its still the same issue.

 Thanks,
Ray

If the onboard test works and xlights doesn't then it's most likely a channel assignment problem.

It may be easiest to just post your files, your sequence XML, xlights _rgbeffects.xml and the network XML.

Here is the network and effects xml. Not sure what file is needed for the sequence as my file is very large in size.

One thing, I wouldn't have 512 channels setup, the Alphapix can't handle that.  If you ever have to "rollover" to another universe you will have issues.  So, set to 510 or just set to what you actually have.

It looks like the main problem is setup.  On the tree you have string #1 set to start at 4097, #2 at 4247, #3 at 4397...., however, in the setup universe #1 is 4097, #2 is 4609, #3 5121.  So, this will not work.  I'm not schooled on the Alphapix so not sure on the options, but I would think you could set to contiguous.  Or, change the string start channels in the model to what you see in the setup, so string #1 would be 4097, string #2 4609, string #3 to 5121.  All of the info is right at your finger tips.  Print the layout off if you need to.
