FSEQ to Xlights4
« on: November 06, 2016, 03:42:12 PM »
Ok so I am revisiting a sequence I would like to use again for this year.  I used it two years ago but it was created within LSP that I just used xlights to do do the convert from seq to fseq so I could play it on my pi.   I still have my xlights_network and xlights_rgbeffects files from that year (believe it was xlights 3 at the time).  Is there a way I can convert the fseq to something I can import and use again to built on that sequence?  My problem is that I've changed channel values from that year so a data layer really doesn't help me since they are different so I end up with data on elements in the wrong places.  Is there anything I can do besides start from fresh?

Thanks

The fseq is raw binary data that the controllers use.  There isn't a way to import that back into xLights to rebuild the sequence.  You would need the xml file for that.

xLights CAN import the LSP seq file and convert some of that into effects.  They would be simple on/off/ramp type effects and a TON of them, but you could attempt to use that as a starting point.

Yep understood and it did work, I could see the data.  The problem isn't xlights at all it's mine since I changed channels in xlights and I really don't want to reinstall Lsp just to change channels over there to try to get it back.  No worries at all.

You were supposed to keep a copy of the old xLights setup then you could import into that and then reopen in the new setup.

I have the networks, rgbeffects files.  The problem is I didn't build the sequence in xlights I built it in lsp and just used xlights to convert that year and or I used it to add megatree effects to a lsp sequence.  So I don't have the xlights sequence xmls since I never really used xlights for that piece.

So you don't do a Convert you use the Import Effects feature and you create a mapping file that will move the channel effects where they need to be.  So with that method you don't need the old setup.

Hmm didn't even see the msq option in the import effects, I was just trying the import effects hoping for the fseq option which doesn't exist.  Ill give that a shot.  Thank you
