importing last year into this year
« on: November 09, 2016, 07:12:03 AM »
Last year I had my seq to exact counts. IE: window A pixels 54
This year I changed every thing to Pixels 100 Including Xlights, PI and F16

Is there an easy way to import last year into the new pixel counts?

Were your sequences last year LOR or xLights?

if xlights last year I would use the import function.  Create a map file and save and then you can convert everything very easy.

I don't understand the problem. Just open the sequence and render. As long as you don't have node level effects xlights will scale it up.

I added 4 more mini trees this year and the effects that were on the group of minis just auto scaled.

Dave,

Like Phrog is saying, as long your models are the same, xLights doesn't care if you have changed the output size, or the model size.  All we will have to do is open up the sequence and re-save it, which now automatically renders a new FSEQ for you using the new model sizes.  What he also suggested is that, as long as you didn't have any effects that were at the node level (as opposed to the model level or the model group level), this will work perfectly, no need to import.  I will take care of it when I come over.  You're even covered if you put most of your effects onto a model group and add additional models to that model group, xlights will take care of that as well.

This year I had to go through and basically blow up my entire channel layout since I sold 95% of my old controllers and built 11 new controllers.  Because the layout of my models stayed the same, but that I just had to change what channel or output they were on, my xlights setup went pretty quick (so far) for this year.  I EVEN had some situations just like you're having where I changed this tree from 65 to 100 pixels, etc... no issues, just tell xlights what the channel range is using one of several approaches and re-save the sequence and you're good...

Now, with your display, since you added arches and the megatree this year... I am still debating what we should do with your sequences... there are some effects that look much better on a megatree than others... and you will want those in there... we may have to revert to the sequences you bought from Sean to get you fully satisfied.  That would require a new import.

You and I will figure that out when I come by.
