Strange behavior with windows
« on: November 16, 2016, 09:07:58 AM »
So I have most of my light sup and was testing if everything is hooked up and defined correctly.  I am seeing strange behavior with my one window when I apply a bars effect to the whole house.  Is is defined as a bottom right start and is wired in a clockwise direction as it is supposed to be.  But when the bars effect is doing a right to left sweep the one window behaves differently.  The other window I have is exactly the same an works as expected. The window is the Living room window in the effects file attached.  In Xlights it looks correct but on the actual house it is not working.

I am sure I am missing something simple but cannot figur it out

You said the other window is exactly the same.  I'll bet it's not...you probably have a different start corner on the other window.  Anyways I'd have to see for myself tonight.  I'll guess that the model has the same problem as a couple others.  We have a few models that don't work right when the controller is on the right and the model is being rendered as part of a group.  I always say it's best to wire everything from the left because that's how everything was initially coded.  All the bugs seem to exist when setting controllers on the right.

Well crap.  So the one window is a bottom left.  The one with the issue is bottom right.   So I should rewire it to be bottom left to avoid issues?

In Xlights it looks fine, but when I do the output to lights it appears like it is rotated 90 degrees.  The sweep comes from the right of the house, bu that window starts at the top and goes down.

So I rotated it 90 degress, luckly it is square, and changed it to a lower left and it is working.  WIll have to make sure to so that for the other windows.  Are there any other hints/tidbits like that that a newbie could use?

Thanks I thought I was going crazy

Mike

I don't want to give any more input until I can verify how this works myself.  Now that you say it looks fine in xLights I'm not sure my original statement is true....there might not be a problem with that model.  The xLights preview should always match the real lights.
