Numbers are off for some models
« on: November 20, 2016, 11:14:26 AM »
Anyone else noticed that if their models use independent start channels and contain multiple strings the test window under models shows their channel numbers incorrectly?  As an example...for my arches the model is setup like so:

I'm doing individual start channels on the arches since they connect on the right side and when you use the arches tool and tell it, it starts on the right it actually still numbers the ARCHES THEMSELVES from left to right as individual strings with each individual string starting on the right.  All my 4 arches are linked to each other starting from the right and so on down the line all the way to the left.  So I had to use individual channels and my Arches model looks like this:

4 Arches (1 Arches Model)
51 Nodes Per Arch
Starting Location from the Right
String 1 6330 - 6482
String 2 6177 - 6329
String 3 6024 - 6176
String 4 5871 - 6023

So in my Test window it should show channels 5871-6482 for the arches model but it doesn't.  For some strange it shows 6330-6941 which is incorrect and ends up lighting part of my arches and overlaps with other models when I select it for the test.  So I have to do it the old school way and go by DMX channels and select that, which is a pain, but there are worst things :)

I hope that made sense :)

I don't know I never use the Test window.  I like just dropping an effect on a model to test it.

The test tab model tester is a bit naive. It assumes a simple contiguous channel layout. That works for most people. For those that it doesn't you have the controller section.

Got ya.  Thanks to both of you for the feedback.  I like Gil's idea and will just do that :)

Thanks again!
