Tools export models does not seem to export all models
« on: November 29, 2016, 06:46:34 PM »
I like to use the export models function for documentation purposes and also for helping in some areas of troubleshooting or just cleaning things up.  With attached rgb_effects file I get only 19 models exported, but if I use excel and open the rgb_effects file I get 63 models.  I am not getting any of the arches or single line models exported by the tool.

Thanks Keith, I like all new tools you have put into the system, even though I got a 13 page report from the sequence checker.  Unfortunately about 12 of those pages where just warnings about groups overlaying another group/model.  I would consider that being a normal occurrence and would like to be able to turn that function (group overlay) off in the checker.  I would also like to see a way to export and import the test presets from the networks.xml so that I could easily move them from one show folder to another.

The reason overlays are warnings is there are valid reasons for doing it ... But ... It is also a common cause of unexpected behaviour. I also have overlapping models but when I read through the detail I found overlaps that should not have been there and so did sean. Easy mistakes to make so worth having it there. They all appear in one section of the report so ignoring it is not that hard.

Export and import of presets exists.

I'm looking for the test presets not the effects presets.  And if a way to import / export test presets exists I cannot find it.

Sorry yeah. You can't export test presets but they should be less necessary now you can use models to select channels.

Models are for specific channels.  I use the presets for testing lights, cutting strings in the right place, testing props before they are put in the show.  They all start at channel 1.  Here are my test presets.  I agree with having models.  I used to create test presets for those as well, but that was for use after setup or final config and not while building props in the workshop.  Just saying it would be nice.  Fortunately I am proficient enough with notepad++ that I can edit my own networks file.  I also noticed one time after doing a delete all in the network setup that I lost all my test presets as well as the network files.  Good thing I had a backup of the test presets.  I suspect the delete all function just wipes out the networks file completely.  That should be a no-no and it should just delete all network entries not testpresets.
