How to make pixels look like ordinary Xmas lights?
« on: November 29, 2016, 08:11:32 PM »
Is there a way to have pixel strings alternate colors like ordinary Christmas lights do?  I thought about doing this after the show is finished for a few hours.  Otherwise, what do you do after show hours?  I have my ordinary lights turn on for a few hours and wanted to do something with the pixels.

I use twinkle, just bring the brightness down to give a softer look.   My pix shows one with less lights lit.

I have to admit when I drive by a house with INCANs glowing I'm kinda jealous.

Thanks baby bear I will try that. Gilrock that's why I am keeps my incans as well, well LEDs actually. They are more of a pain to sequence but I like how they look better.

LEDs don't have that same glow I'm talking about.

My neighbor does a razor straight outline in incan C9s. It's one of my favorites.

I agree about the incandescent I just don't have the power to do it without adding a bunch to my electric panel

I found that RGB values of 255 127 27 for "white" on my house outline match my incandescent icicle and snowflake lights fairly well.

Back to the original question, I am working on transitioning from LOR to xlights and I REALLY want to find out how to get the look of red white red white or other alternating colors that are static.  It seems there would need to be a way to address the lights other than via the grid / pattern overlay on the whole house model. I made my entire house outline our of straight line segments so can I apply an effect to each model element individually.  But what I can't seem to do is get the single strand effects to be static, any other ideas?

Thanks, Marcus

Use the Marquee effect...you can select 2 colors and change the speed to 0.  If it doesn't look correct try changing the Render Style in the Layer Settings panel to "Single Line".
