Drip effect for icicle Pixels
« on: December 02, 2016, 10:41:28 PM »
I have the awesome looking Ray Wu Icicle pixels around the front perimeter of my house - 3 pixels, then 4 pixels then 5,  345-345-345 and they look great after i rehung them this year with newly designed clips.   Entering them into XL was very nice, but i don't find any effects that really take advantage of what the icicles can do. I'd like to have them drip after hours -  my twilight shows.
I'd be happy to work with someone for this effect since i have the goods.

You can also try meteors with the icicles option.

Here's a sample of what I did last year with 6,9,12 icicles.

Can you clarify what you mean "with 3D checked"?  Is this a setting within the Meteors effect (that I'm not seeing)?

Are there any plans to develop the Meteor effect any further (since it seems to be the best effect for icicles), or maybe have effects specifically for icicles?

As far as effect enhancements:
*right now, all icicles behave with the same speed.  It would be nice to have the ability to randomize the speed among the different icicles
*similarly, the start/stop position of the Down-Meteors appears random.  I would be nice to be able to control this level of randomness (or completely turn-off).
*what about applying the dimming-curves, or something that would allow the drop effect could start slow, then accelerate (a more natural-appearing drop)

As far as the model enhancements:
*would it be possible to get modifications to how the Icicle strand operates in the Sequencing tab?  Currently, you can create a strand of icicles, and set the "drop pattern" (e.g., 3,4,5).  When you expand the Icicle model (in the Sequencing tab), you see Icicle->Strand 1->Node 1, Node 2, Node 3, etc.  It would be nice if you could access each icicle individually:  Icicle->Icicle 1, Icicle 2, Icicle 3->Node 1, Node 2, etc.

This could probably be done manually with sub-models--but it seems that it could be done automatically as part of generating the model.

Overall-effect wise, I could see people mapping specific icicles to specific MIDI notes in the piano effect (or various other uses where discrete control of each icicle could be used).

The MUSIC effect or PIANO effect for individual icicles within a string?  I would be able to map each icicle to a specific midi note?

I thought you used to be able to import midi files for these effects--has this changed?

Music effect. You could do up to I think 100 icicles mapped to frequencies from memory.

Do you know if there is a video that demonstrates these effects?  I've been playing with it, referencing the manual, etc. and just not getting it.

I pulled up my sequence from 2016 (below, where I created the effect manually).  Theoretically, I should be able to re-create these single-note effects on the globes using the Music (or Piano) effect, but not having any luck.
