Pixel Tree Nodes act Different than other models
« on: December 08, 2016, 03:10:59 PM »
Trying to sequence one of my old favorites from years (shows) past - Hot  Chocolate.  Wanted to do a special type of spin on the pixel tree - 32 strands of 29 nodes. I'm not able to sequence the individual strings by themselves. The top group will bring the color or effect down but when i drill into the strings my changes don't appear.

One thing i noticed is I have a group called Tree Group, under it is tree, and then the strands - see screen shot.  Could that be an issue.
Been doing this song since 2006 - cant stop now.

I think i read Gilrock say that the group overrides everything else. Suggest goung into sub-models and set up the strings individually, them expand the tree in the sequencer and add your effects to each string as needed.

The render order for models is determined by the order top to bottom in the master view.

Just completed editing the 140 node tree topper star, custom edit of each group of 28 nodes with ramps and fades - no problems just as I would have expected.  So what makes the tree setup different than the star.

Things that make you go --- Hmmmm.....?

Sorry I don't know what you mean.  You need to either show screenshots of settings and the preview or share files to get a problem worked out.

What i am looking for assistance on is a challenge with the sequence editor, and the problem is for some unknown reason I am unable to edit/sequence the individual strings on the pixel tree.  Nothing shows up in preview when i attempt to edit individual strings.  I can edit individual strings and or individual nodes in most everything else including the LOR channels i have setup, but the megatree is a not playing nice.  And it's not my first rodeo - I am a professional IT - with 18 years of experience under my belt.  I've got about 2500 pixels lit up this year, all driven from my e1.31 network with SanDevices for controllers, but for some silly reason the ability to edit any of the 32 strings of 29 nodes on my pixel tree - it's alluding me.

Just need a little help. I have searched the forum and dug as deep into the manual as possible.

When i started this sequence it was a blank slate and i started with the tree.  I even tossed the first draft and started over to see if i had botched it up. No Joy.

Thoughts of which direction to seek??

If you post a sample sequence where you can point me to a timestamp, model, and effect to look at that doesn't appear in the preview then I can help.  So post the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file and the sequence xml file.
